I have about a week before my surgery next week. I’m a 49 year old female, born with hip dysplasia. I’m an avid rower and a cyclist and I’ve had bone-on-bone arthritis for at least two years. I was able to ride and row all season, and even got in one of each over the holiday weekend, which I’m happy about.

7-1/2 years on left and 3 years on right and still going strong. I cannot emphasize enough that it takes continued exercise, stretching and conditioning to keep your new (or old) hips going strong. Add a few pounds and go through a lazy spell and I will start to limp and clunk again.

April 8, 2010 – 46yr old scheduled 4/28 with Dr. Brooks in Cleveland. I will be traveling roughly 5 hours from SoCen PA. I am a nurse and cracking myself up that I have not met him but feel completely ready to GO! I feel like this is the right surgery for me and need to thank a patient I did a stress test on, who first mentioned this surgery as a possiblity and referred me to this website. And boy am I ready–this was quite a journey to get to this final month. At this point I am walking
