|The only words to describe me are, JUST PLAIN HAPPY! This is life, this is wonderful. At six weeks I was at the halfway point between the left leg which was surfed 2-35-05 and the right leg which is going to be surfed 5-27-05. If anyone had told me that my new leg would be carrying the old one around at 6 weeks post op I wouldn’t have believed them. But it is true. The old leg is so crabby. Since I was too timid to have a bilat like brave Anna was, now I can clearly feel the difference.|

Hi all…. Shirl and I arrived safe and sound on Wednesday afternoon in Amsterdam at about 12:30 PM. We were about an hour early because of a strong westerly jet stream which pushed us along nicely. We got off the plane and Shirl was booked for assistance so we were picked up at the gate by a golf card and rushed through the terminal to passport control and were out to pick up our baggage in about 15… Read the rest
December 20, 2007 2 weeks post op!
After several years of joint pain, and trips to doctors, a friend put me onto your site at the end of this summer. I am a 54 yr old female runner, who used to do sprint triathlons and bike and kayak. The pain got to me, and I finally listened to my body and realized the pain wasn’t going to get better by itself. (Why did it take so long??)
Dr. Rogerson in Madison said I was only a 20% chance of a BMR because of the large cyst, but he encouraged me
Dearest Hippys,Hip #2 is going well here in Gent Belgium. Everyone says that I am doing much better then I did for the first one, but I thought I did great the first time! It is easier though. I am fondly beginning to think of it as a three day “time out” that I had to take to get repaired.
The second hip was easier ~ knowing what to expect is more then half the battle. Dr. DeSmet or whoever your doctor is fights the other half for you. Maybe it is in the fight that we find life
Four Year Anniversary
Four years ago today Dr. De Smet gave me my life back with a new right BHR hip. Things could not be any better with the hip. Every once in awhile I work the hip a little hard and it gets sore for a night and then the next day it is back to normal. Once or twice this past year it got squeaking on me but again I just drank a little extra water that night and it was back to normal the next day.I just can not say enough about how pleased I am
It has been almost 7 years since I went and had my right hip done by Dr. De Smet and I always said no matter what I will never go to another doctor….well now the time has come and the possibilities are more vast because of the number of choices out there.
Well, I was 50 going on 51 and now I am 56 going on 57… I am a Pilates teacher and have been in the fitness business for 30 years+. I owned and operated a health club through the 80’s and 90’s and as I see it I
back home in Montreal. I am
now a happy owner of a left BHR. It took 50 minutes to implant the
device. The installation of the femoral component was tricky : it
is standing in a weird angle to compensate the anteversion of the
pelvis. This way, my leg will be able to move in every way without
smashing the neck of the femur (and the FAI will not come back). I
see now why the other surgeons refused to do … Read the rest
